REMONDIS takes over KÖLSCH GmbH.

Siegen, Olpe. The firm KÖLSCH GmbH, which was sold on 03.11.2008, will, in the future, operate as part of REMONDIS Industrie Service GmbH & CO. KG's Siegen branch as part of its integration into the company's hazardous waste division. Kölsch GmbH, which was founded by Karl Kölsch in 1945, is an independent family-run business that offers both private individuals and industrial, commercial and retail customers a full range of services covering all aspects of recycling and disposing of hazardous waste. Its site in Siegen comprises intermediary storage facilities, transfer facilities as well as a chemical-physical-biological treatment facility for liquid organic and inorganic hazardous waste.

A total of 9 employees carry out the necessary logistics work at the site to en-sure that the collected waste is treated and disposed of in an eco-friendly manner. "The site's primary activities revolve around the chemical-physical-biological treatment facility which will, in the future, primarily treat the liquid waste from J.C. Thomsen Entsorgung GmbH, Gummersbach (previously Kierspe) – a fully owned REMONDIS subsidiary," explained Dr Bernhard Schulze Langenhorst, managing director of REMONDIS Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG. The Siegen branch is able to carry out these activities as it has been accredited as a specialist waste management business in accordance with the relevant ordinance.

The container service and commercial waste areas will, together with the 7 em-ployees, be integrated into REMONDIS Olpe GmbH. All services will be taken over by the two locations in Olpe (Tel.: 02761/923-0) and Wilnsdorf (Tel.: 02737/22620). As a result of this purchase, REMONDIS is continuing to strengthen its presence in the Siegen region which began last year when it took over the old AKM site in Wilnsdorf as well as the disposal of waste glass and paper in the whole of the district and the paper collection activities in the city of Siegen.
